SynXis® Announces System Enhancements at HITEC
New Features Allow Hotels to Strengthen
Relationships with Travel Agents

-
HITEC   Booth # 1048

McLean, VA June 24, 2002 This week at HITEC, SynXis (booth # 1048), a provider of reservation management and distribution systems for the hospitality industry, is introducing three new initiatives to help hotels build better relationships with travel agents.  The initiatives enhance travel agent commission processing, allow agents to book directly on a hotels website and provide them with web-only rates and promotions.

Given that travel agents can no longer rely on airline commissions to keep them in business, they have expressed a heightened interest in maximizing hotel bookings, said Jim Kelly, SynXis Chairman and CEO.  In response, SynXis wants to give its hotels as many tools as possible to supply travel agents with plenty of well-priced product to sell, and to be favored by the travel agent community.

The three new features include:

  • SynComm, a consolidated commission payment process
  • Book-A-Rez enhancement, SynXiss Website booking engine
  • AgentWare system integration
SynComm
Using SynComm, any hotel property or chain using SynXis now can reconcile and pay all travel agent commissions electronically, right from the SynXis Control Center, for not much more than what they now pay for postage.  By using this service, hotels can save up to 75 percent of their current costs for processing these commissions. The most up-to-date stay information can be reconciled on-line and with only a few keystrokes and one electronic bank transfer hotels can approve payment of commissions due to all their travel agents worldwide.  Another option is a totally hands-off process where an extract can be taken from many popular Property Management Systems.

Travel agents can now receive consolidated payment delivered in their home currency, which includes detailed reporting of no-shows, changes, and cancellations.  It also takes away the need for numerous research calls and faxes to hotels. SynComm is a partnership between SynXis and the Norway-based NetTrans, which provides the services and web-native technology to power this program.

Book-A-Rez
SynXiss booking engine, Book-A-Rez, has been enhanced to allow travel agents to make bookings directly on hotel websites that are powered by SynXis.  Book-A-Rez now accepts the travel agents IATA number and matches the IATA number to the SynXis database.   As an added feature, travel agents can bookmark the hotels URL right in their browser, embedded with their IATA number and any confidential rate code to which they are entitled, making repeat bookings for their clients only one click away.

AgentWare
SynXis is also unveiling a new partnership with AgentWare, which allows travel agents who arent yet familiar with a hotel to also have access to hotels web fares.  Taking advantage of AgentWares direct interface to SynXis Agent, hotels will be able to offer web-only rates and promotions directly to travel agents. AgentWare has already contracted to bring web-only airfares to thousands of travel agent screens.
