New Castle Hotels and Resorts Appoints Nik Pereira as Director of Sales
for the Westin Portland Harborview Hotel in Maine

The Historic Hotel, Undergoing Renovation and Re-Flagging, is Scheduled to Open in Spring 2014

SHELTON, Conn./ PORTLAND, Maine, November 26, 2012—Officials of New Castle Hotels and Resorts, a leading hotel owner, operator and developer, today announced the appointment of Nik Pereira to director of sales (DOS) for the Westin Portland Harborview Hotel, scheduled to open in downtown Portland in Spring 2014.   The historic hotel (formerly the Eastland Park Hotel), owned by a joint venture between RockBridge and New Castle Hotels and Resorts, is undergoing an extensive renovation to retain its unique historic qualities while simultaneously transforming to the upper upscale Westin brand.

“Nik has extensive experience in the New England market, having worked with hotels in Boston and Braintree, Mass., and in Providence, RI.” said Gerry Chase, president and COO of New Castle Hotels and Resorts.  “Those experiences will be particularly valuable as we partner with the local business community and the new civic center to attract small conventions and large meetings to Portland.”

“The city of Portland is clearly enthusiastic about the renovations to our hotel and the addition of so many upscale hotel rooms to the market,” said Pereira.  “The model rooms in our downtown sales office are generating a lot of excitement in town and with the convention groups that are coming to take a look.  I have every confidence that the Westin Portland Harborview will have a tremendous impact on Portland’s ability to attract more convention and meeting business and I’m eager to play a role in that advancement.”

Prior to joining New Castle, Pereira was the account director at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel and Towers.  Earlier in his career, he served as senior area sales manager at the Westin & Hilton Providence where he also acted as the hotel’s liaison to the Providence Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.  He holds an MBA from Johnson and Wales University and earned his bachelor’s degree from the Welcomgroup Graduate School for Hotel Administration in Manipal, India.
