Melia Madrid Hotel to 5 Stars The hotel has also changed its name to the Meliá Madrid Princesa |
The emblematic Meliá Madrid hotel has
officially obtained a 5 star category after completing a thorough renovation
of all of the hotels rooms and facilities. Located in the most elegant
area of the centre of the Spanish capital along Princesa Street, hotel
management has also decided to change the name of the property to the Meliá
Madrid Princesa, as it has always been commonly known amongst locals and
visitors.
The award of the 5 star official category to the Meliá Madrid Princesa is a consequence of the investments in hotel improvements that Sol Meliá has set in motion throughout its hotel portfolio. The renovation of this hotel has involved a total investment of 650 million pesetas 3.9 million euros-, making it one of the most modern and best equipped hotels in the Spanish capital. Renovation has included the renewal of the hotel façade, redecoration of public areas and the hotels 265 guestrooms (completely soundproofed and equipped with in-room safes), as well as the addition of jacuzzis to the 5 hotel suites. Business facilities have also been improved, including a new 600m2 meeting room that takes the total number of rooms available to 11 with a total capacity for 1,600 guests. Leisure facilities have also seen changes with the renovation of the Trinidad discotheque and remodelling of the Don Pepe à la carte restaurant. With a great location in what is commonly known as the Madrid of the Austrian Kings and its proximity to the citys main attractions, the Meliá Madrid Princesa is an ideal location for both business and leisure travellers. To celebrate the new category, and at the same time the San Isidro public holiday, patron saint of the city of Madrid, management at the Meliá Madrid Princesa have organised a theme dinner party at the hotel to be attended by members of the tourism authorities such as the Director General of Tourism for the Province of Madrid, Joaquín María Peñarrubia, along with the Executive Vice President of the Sol Meliá European City Hotel Division, Andrés Encinas, and the company Vice President of Communications and Institutional Relations, Jaime Puig de la Bellacasa. The event will take place this evening (Thursday, 11th. May) on the Sabatini Terrace in the Meliá Madrid Princesa. Sol Meliá currently operates 121 hotels in Spain, 6 of which are located in Madrid: Meliá Madrid Princesa, Meliá Galgos, Meliá Castilla, Meliá Avenida América, Sol Inn Alondras and Sol Inn Leganés. |
