June, 1999 - The Spanish hotel company Sol Meliá
has signed two new agreements to take over hotels in Portugal and Spain.
The first is a city hotel on the Portuguese coast at Peniche and the second
is a resort hotel in Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands. Both hotels will
assist in furthering Sol Meliás aim to diversify its hotel portfolio,
both with regard to location and its business and leisure hotel mix.
The Sol Inn Peniche has been incorporated through a management agreement with the hotel owners, Aguilas do Surf-Emprendimientos Turístiscos de Peniche. Located 500 metres from the centre of the city of Peniche, amongst others, the hotel provides facilities such as 8 meeting rooms perfectly equipped for conventions and banquets. This additional hotel increases the number operated by Sol Meliá in Portugal to twelve, including both city and resort properties, with a total of 3,338 rooms. The second hotel, the Sol Brisamar, will be leased from Dunaventura, S.L. The hotel is located only 400 metres from Corralejo beach and provides 110 one and two-bedroom apartments, all fitted with a wide range of facilities and providing a perfect location for family holidays.
