Morty Valldejuli Appointed as General Manager/Area Managing Director
for the Westin Casuarina Resort & Spa, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

- Westin Casuarina Resort & Spa on Grand Cayman in the Cayman Islands has appointed Morty Valldejuli as General Manager/Area Managing Director. A visionary leader with close to 25 years experience at highly rated hotel and resort properties in the Gulf States, Valldejuli is responsible for all operations at the award-winning address located along famed Seven Mile Beach.

"Morty brings a strong background in the most significant aspects of hospitality as well as the talent and confidence to oversee and guide the hotel as we complete our multi-million dollar renovation in 2012," said Jim Dina, Partner and Chief Operating Officer at Pyramid Resort Group, which oversees management of Westin Casuarina Resort & Spa, Grand Cayman. "We're excited to have him overseeing the award-winning guest experience on the beachfront in Grand Cayman."

Valldejuli arrived at his new role on the shores of Grand Cayman following two years as Area Managing Director and General Manager for Pyramid Hotel Group properties in the Greater New Orleans Area. Among his assignments were Maison Dupuy Hotel and Marriott Hotel Lakeway. During his tenure, Marriott Hotel Lakeway was honored with an AAA Four Diamond Award in 2011, while Maison Dupuy Hotel was voted "2011 Best Boutique Hotel in New Orleans" by National Geographic Traveler, and won "Best 2011 Urban Escape in New Orleans" from Fodor's Choice Golf Award.

Previously, Valldejuli held the dual role of Chief Operating Officer and General Manager of River Ranch Hospitality, a division of River Ranch Development in Lafayette, Louisiana. Prior to that, he was Area General Manager of New Orleans Fine Hotels Corp., an independent, privately owned hotel group that managed and owned 12 boutique hotels.

Other assignments for Valldejuli over the past quarter century included Hotel Manager of The Alden Hotel in Houston, Texas; Executive Assistant Manager of Le Méridien Hotels and Resorts in New Orleans; and Deputy Managing Director of Le Pavillon Hotel in New Orleans - all AAA Four Diamond addresses. Valldejuli got his start in hospitality at Hyatt Regency and Sheraton, New Orleans in 1988.

Born in New Jersey and raised between San Juan, Puerto Rico and Los Angeles, CA, Valldejuli pursued undergraduate studies in Marketing and Economics at the University of Sacred Heart in San Juan. He has been a resident of New Orleans, LA for the last 24 years with his wife, Anastasia, daughter, Kathryn, and son, Aleksander. Valldejuli will be relocating to Grand Cayman.
