Philip Dailey Named as General Manager of
Andaz West Hollywood in California

LOS ANGELES, CA  August 1, 2011
- Philip Dailey has been named  General Manager of Andaz West Hollywood receiving this week with a warm welcome from hotel associates and the local community.  Dailey takes the helm of Andaz West Hollywood in its third year since reopening as a vibrant boutique-style hotel on the Sunset Strip in January 2009. When the hotel opened, it was the first Andaz to debut in the U.S. Currently there are four other Andaz hotels – one on 5th Avenue in the heart of midtown Manhattan, one on Wall Street in New York, one in the Gaslamp District of San Diego, and one in London’s East End. Later this summer, Andaz Shanghai, the first Andaz in Asia will open in Xintiandi – a landmark entertainment area in the heart of downtown Shanghai.

With more than 20 years of management experience in the luxury hospitality industry, Dailey joins the Andaz team from the SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills, where he successfully launched the hotel and managed it for over two years.  Dailey will oversee the day-to-day operations of Andaz West Hollywood and establish long-term strategic planning for the hotel. Departing General Manager, Michel Morauw, opened Andaz West Hollywood and established the hotel  as a sophisticated place to entertain or stay convivially on the Sunset Strip. He leaves to take on a new leadership role with Hyatt in its operations overseas.

Previous to his role at the SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills, Dailey spent six years with Asian-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, serving as General Manager of Shangri-La Chiang Mai in Thailand where he was responsible for managing the hotel’s grand opening in 2007. During his tenure at Shangri-La, he served as General Manager of the Putrajaya Shangri-La in Putrajaya, Malaysia for four years and prior to that position served as Executive Assistant Manager for Makati Shangri-La in the Philippines.  Prior to his tenure at Shangri-La, Dailey spent over six years with Ian Schrager Hotels serving as a General Manager at Miramar in Santa Barbara, California and New York City’s Morgans Hotel. He also served as Executive Assistant Manager for The Delano Hotel in Miami, Florida.   Throughout the early to mid 1990’s and late 1980’s, Dailey held leadership positions with Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts and The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, respectively.  He began his illustrious hospitality career as a corporate management trainee with Hyatt in 1986.

With a track record for launching boutique hotels and catapulting them to success, Dailey looks forward to bringing his knowledge of operations to Andaz West Hollywood, strengthening its reputation for excellent service, design and innovative guest experience.

“We are thrilled to have Philip join us at our iconic Andaz West Hollywood,” said Jordan Meisner, Senior Vice President, Field Operations for Hyatt Hotels. “Philip brings a wealth of experience from luxury international hotels, as well as in-depth knowledge of the local culture that Los Angeles properties need to thrive.”

Dailey’s transition to General Manager has been welcomed and the Andaz looks forward to his plans for the future. “I am excited to strengthen existing partnerships and align the Andaz with new opportunities and events. With current programs like Art Seen at Andaz and community partnerships with the Sunset Music Festival and the local Fashion’s Night Out, we’ve got a great foundation to build on,” says Dailey. “As a staple on the Sunset Strip along with our future plans, I know the Andaz will inspire experiences not only for our guests but for the local community.”
