 Shirley Talbert Named National Trust Historic Hotels of America First Director of Marketing Distribution
WASHINGTON, D.C., April 16, 2002 - National Trust Historic Hotels of America announced the appointment of Shirley Talbert, CHME, as the organization's first director of marketing distribution.  She will begin her position on April 24, 2002. Talbert will be responsible for overseeing HHA's reservation system, hosted by HubX, encouraging member hotel participation and maximizing productivity for the 185-member hotel marketing association. 
 
"As Historic Hotels of America seeks opportunities to present our member hotels with enhanced production, we are delighted to have someone with Shirley's extensive expertise in this new position," said Thierry Roch, executive director of National Trust Historic Hotels of America.
                      
"This is a fantastic opportunity and challenge to grow productivity for Historic Hotels. As the organization launches a new reservations system, enhances Internet reservation capabilities and adds a GDS code (HE), the time is now to aggressively promote rates and packages to travel agents, travel partners and consumers. I have a great interest in history and have always enjoyed staying at historic hotels - I couldn't be happier," said Talbert. 
                      
Most recently, Talbert was with WorldRes in San Francisco where she was responsible for signing up hotels in the Internet reservations and marketing program. Talbert has a thorough understanding of all aspects of the hotel industry. Throughout her 25-year career, she has held positions in 
National Trust Historic Hotels of America has signed an agreement with HubX to provide central reservations services effective June 1, 2002. This includes Internet distribution services (IDS), private-label voice and reservations through the global distribution systems (GDS). 
                      
"We are taking a quantum leap forward in growing revenue for our members," said Thierry Roch, executive director of Historic Hotels of America. "Following a year-long process, HubX was selected because of their innovative technology, affordable pricing and proven production capabilities. Our acquisition of a GDS code and hiring Shirley Talbert will allow us to bring our members supplementary bookings through the creative packaging of their unique and diverse market characteristics."

Talbert is a graduate of Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, N.C. She is a Certified Hospitality Marketing Executive (CHME) and a member of the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI).
                      
National Trust Historic Hotels of America is a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. It has identified 185 hotels that have faithfully maintained their historic integrity, architecture and ambience. To be selected for this program, a hotel must be at least 50 years old, listed or eligible for the National Register of Historic Places or recognized locally as having historic significance.
