CAIS Installing High Speed Internet to the
RFS Portfolio of 62 Hotels
WASHINGTON & MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Sept. 13, 2000 -- RFS Hotel Investors, Inc. (NYSE:RFS) has selected CAIS Internet (NASDAQ:CAIS) as the exclusive provider of high speed Internet access for their hotel guest and meeting rooms.

CAIS will provide high speed Internet access to the entire RFS portfolio of 62 hotels located in 24 states nationwide. RFSs hotels are operated under leading brands including Sheraton®, Residence Inn by Marriott®, Hilton®, Doubletree®, Holiday Inn®, Hampton Inn®, and Homewood Suites by Hilton®.

Under the multi-year agreement, high-speed access will be available to approximately 9,000 RFS guestrooms via the guests laptop computers, as well as in meeting rooms for any company meetings or conference needs. Both access points provide an attractive amenity to business travelers, and can address other fast-paced Internet needs that a guest may have.

For a nominal fee, our guests will be able to obtain high speed Internet access to send and receive e-mail or surf the web at T1 speed. We believe this capability is consistent with our desire to exceed our guests expectations, stated Randy Churchey, President and Chief Operating Officer, RFS Hotel Investors.

CAIS Internet will provide RFS with a much desired amenity, that is a necessity for most business travelers, said Ulysses G. Auger II, CEO, CAIS Internet. Guests staying at RFS hotels will now have access to a dedicated high-speed Internet connection. Our integrated solutions package of innovative CAIS network access and technologies, IPORT software, customer support, portal content and systems, allows us to provide our customers with a one-stop, user-friendly solution.

CAIS Internet can deliver Internet access to hotels at speeds up to 175 times faster than a traditional 56k dial-up connection. Since CAIS Internets OverVoice technology is installed at the origin of the signal, the copper telephone wire can deliver both the voice and data signals across the same wire pair simultaneously. This allows guests the convenience of a dedicated high-speed connection to the Internet in their guest or meeting room that can be used while talking on the telephone. The CAIS solution gives users this convenient, cost-effective solution with no additional rewiring or costly end-user equipment.
