Historically a damp month, April brings rain, mild temperatures—and judging from this month’s consumer reviews, cold shoulders. In almost every category of every segments, hospitality guests were less favorable than they had been in March. On a scale of 1-5, 5 being “fantastic” and 1 being “poor,” the average lodger indicated a 6.33% decline in the average Resultant Quality Score (3.79 to 3.55), a 2.41% decline in Dining (3.74 to 3.65), a 6.44% tumble in average Facilities ratings (4.04 to 3.78), and a 4.41% fall in Rooms (3.63 to 3.47). Other declines included Staff, which fell 7.40% (3.92 to 3.63), and in Value, which decreased from 4.45 to 4.16 (6.52%). The biggest area of disappointment this month was Housekeeping, last month’s big winner, which in April saw a 10.62% dip (3.86 to 3.45).
