Las Vegas International Hotel & Restaurant Show
Confirms Leading Lodging and Restaurant
Developers Participation in Panels

LAS VEGAS ­ May 9, 2002 - Leading lodging executives and top restaurant developers from across the country will discuss the state of the hospitality industry in two keynotes at the 23rd Las Vegas International Hotel & Restaurant Show (LVIHRS) June 19-20 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The lodging and restaurant keynote panels are part of a larger seminar program offered by the LVIHRS that also includes current and useful information about such topics as integrating technology into business, getting the most for your marketing dollar and how to train better employees.

Lodging experts will discuss what opportunities are ahead for the hotel industry on Thursday, June 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Confirmed participants include 

  • Robert Baldwin, president, Mirage Resort Group; 
  • Peter Yesawich, CEO and president, Yesawich, Pepperdine & Brown, 
  • Jay Witzel, president, Carlson Hotels and 
  • Steve Rudnitsky, chairman and CEO, Cendant Corporation Hotel Group. 
Mike Malley, publisher and editorial director of Hotel & Motel Management, will moderate the seminar.

The country¹s foremost restaurant developers will discuss the latest industry trends. Restaurateurs 

  • Howard Hamada, president, Hamada's Inc.;
  • Julian Serrano, principle and executive chef, Picasso's; 
  • Tony Grappo, partner, Outback Restaurants; and 
  • Scott DeGraff, co-ower of Nine Group
Regynald Washington, vice president and general manager of Disney Regional Entertainment/ESPN Zone, will moderate the seminar.

"It's exciting to offer LVIHRS show attendees the opportunity to hear from
prominent industry leaders," said Felix Rappaport, president and COO of New
York-New York Hotel & Casino and chair of the LVIHRS. "The seminars really
enhance the educational value of the Show for the attendees."

The cost to attend the show is $25 if registration is received by May 31 and $35 after that date. 

The LVIHRS will present 400 exhibitors featuring products and services for lodging, gaming and food serving properties, within 50,000 net square feet of exhibit space at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Some 4,000 attendees, including lodging and gaming chains, franchises, resorts, casinos, independent, time share and senior care properties; purchasing and management companies; food & beverage; foodservice equipment and supplies; architects, designers and consultants are expected to attend.  The two-day show also offers competitions, demonstrations and special events.

The 2002 LVIHRS marks the second event produced under a partnership between the Nevada Hotel & Lodging Association (NHLA), Nevada Restaurant Association (NRA), the owners of the 87-year old New York City-based International Hotel/Motel and Restaurant Show (IH/MRS), the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA), the Hotel Association of New York City (HANYC) and the New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association (NYSHTA). The show is managed by George Little Management, LLC (GLM).
