Jump 10.5% Higher than Last Year September |
Black Hawk, Colorado - October 17, 2001 - Colorado
casinos have been comparatively unaffected by the nationwide dropoff in
tourism that resulted from the September terrorist attacks, according to
figures released yesterday by the Colorado Division of Gaming.
The state total of $59.8 million monthly AGP (Adjusted Gross Proceeds) slipped slightly from the glitzy August figure of $60.8 million, but was nearly 10% better than last Septembers $54.4 million. Leading the way, as usual, were the 20 casinos in Black Hawk;
their $41.88 million in AGP also trailed Augusts $42.77 million,
but was still a healthy 10.5% higher than September, 2000s $37.88 million.
Cripple Creek similarly slipped behind the August figures, with an AGP of $12.84 million down just fractionally from Augusts $12.86 million, but up strongly (roughly 3.5%) from last Septembers $12.4 million. Central City actually posted the most impressive year-to-year gains; its $5 million in AGP was also down slightly from Augusts $5.1 million, but was almost 22% above the $4.1 million of the previous September. With the excellent revenue showing and the higher tax rates of Colorados progressive gaming tax structure kicking in, state tax revenues showed the biggest jump, with this Septembers $6.9 million nearly 17% higher than last Septembers $5.9 million; Black Hawk casinos paid nearly 85% of the total. |
