| ORLANDO, Fla.- July 19, 2001--Marty Belz, president and chairman of
the board, Peabody Hotel Group, Memphis, Tennessee, has announced the company's
acquisition of 100% ownership of The Peabody Orlando, the luxury, 891-room,
57,000 sq. ft. of flexible meeting space, convention/resort hotel on International
Drive, directly opposite the main entrance to the 1.5-million sq. ft.
(soon-to-be 3-million sq. ft.) Orange County Convention Center.
"Our 50% partnership agreement with La Salle Hotel Properties and Carlyle Realty was nearing its five-year term, and Peabody Hotel Group was eager and ready to acquire 100% ownership of The Peabody Orlando," said Belz today.  "This
is a great day for Peabody Hotel Group, but especially for the management
and associates of The Peabody Orlando," said Alan C. Villaverde, the hotel's
well-known vice president and general manager. "There is already
a deep pride of ownership in, and dedication to, Peabody standards at our
hotel. Now, that we are 100% owned by Peabody Hotel Group, our Peabody
service cultures and standards will blossom still further."
Peabody Hotel Group will continue to manage The Peabody Orlando under the terms of its original management agreement with the ownership. One of the nation's premier, privately-held hotel management companies, Peabody Hotel Group recently expanded its hotel portfolio, and now totals eleven (11) hotels, including The Peabody Memphis, "the South's Grand Hotel," and the soon-to-be re-flagged Excelsior Hotel in Little Rock, which will be known as The Peabody Little Rock.
