Atlantica Hotels Spending US$500,000 in Upgrades
to Position the Radisson Hotel Jardins
as Flagship Property in Brazil
SÃO PAULO, July 26, 2001 Just one month after announcing the formation of their strategic alliance, Atlantica Hotels International and Radisson Hotels & Resorts have set the date for opening the first Radisson hotel in Brazil.

Scheduled to open September 15, the 28-story, 220-room Radisson Hotel Jardins features a soaring, three-story lobby, 220 guest rooms, conference facilities to accommodate groups up to 200, an indoor heated lap pool, rooftop fitness center, state-of-the-art security and life-safety systems, in-room work stations with oversized desks and direct Internet access. The hotels stunning contemporary architecture is highly visible from several of São Paulos major streets, including the Faria Lima. Its location is within safe and easy walking distance of more than two dozen of the citys finest and best-known restaurants and bars.

The hotels signature restaurant Giorno was created and will be operated by one of São Paulos most successful and best-known restaurateurs and will feature eclectic Italian/Mediterranean cuisine creatively interpreted with local specialties, including fresh-made pasta, distinctive salads and exquisite pastries. The 150-seat restaurant is complemented by a 50-seat outdoor café and bar.

For the balance of the year, Atlantica Hotels International and its investment partners will spend more than US$500,000 in upgrades to position the hotel as Radissons flagship property in Brazil. While the upgrades will include soft good improvements, the main emphasis will be placed upon the development of a state-of-the-art business center to support the needs of international business traveler.

The historic Jardins district of São Paulo, currently a collection of upscale neighborhoods, was once home to the citys most fashionable and wealthy residents. As land prices rose and the need for industrial and commercial areas exploded, the area became home to many of the citys international finance companies, banks and multinational companies. Today Jardins boasts numerous high-end shopping centers as well as the citys highest concentration of fine restaurants and nightlife.

The district of Jardins continues to draw the attention of businesses from around the world and is considered a key location for the Fortune 500 companies represented in Brazil, said Paul J. Sistare, president and CEO of Atlantica Hotels International. It is entirely fitting, then, that Jardins is the location of the first Radisson hotel in Brazil. We are pleased that we can see near-immediate results from the strategic alliance we struck with Radisson Hotels & Resorts just one month ago.

On June 27, Atlantica Hotels International and Radisson Hotels & Resorts teamed up to develop Radisson hotels throughout South America. Atlantica Hotels and Radisson intend to soon announce additional projects, signaling the rapid expansion of their properties throughout the major cities of Brazil.

Since its formation in 1998, Atlantica Hotels International is South Americas first and only independent hospitality management company to operate multiple international brands. Based in São Paulo, Atlantica Hotels International has more than $700 million in assets under management. The company presently operates 15 hotels and has 57 hotels under construction and 28 under development.

Chairman of the company is Gregory Ryan, a graduate of Cornell Universitys hospitality management program. Ryan is known throughout Brazil for his overwhelming success as the founder of McDonalds restaurants in that country. Shortly after Ryan joined the company, Nicholas Brady, former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury and architect of the Brady Bonds, invested in the company through his Darby Overseas Investments fund. Mr. Brady presently serves as Vice Chairman of Atlantica Hotels International.
