for Best Rooms, Best Theme, and Best Health Spa Designed by WATG, Inc. Nevada |
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., August 2001The Venetian
Resort-Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas took top honors in a recent surveyBest
of Gamingconducted by Casino Player magazine. Designed by WATG,
Inc. Nevada in association with TSA of Nevada, LLP, the Venetian secured
the number one spot in three award categories, winning for Best Rooms,
Best Theme, and Best Health Spa. The casino-hotel also ranked
among the top three in the country for Best Overall Casino-Hotel and
Best Hotel.
The property was also honored for its theme architecture, mirrored after Renaissance Venice, with replicas of the Doges Palace, St. Marks Square, the Rialto Bridge, The Bridge of Sighs, the Ca DOro and the Campanile Tower. The commercial level was designed to simulate the Venetian neighborhoods fronting the famous canals with footbridges over them. Nowhere is a theme carried through more perfectly than at the Venetian, according to Casino Player, referring to the atmosphere of authenticity enhanced by frescoes, canals, and singing gondoliers. Also securing a first-place spot in the survey was the Canyon Ranch SpaClub at the Venetian, which has its own hotel floor and restaurant, and thereby, according to Casino Player, creating a cocooned and pampered world within the glitz and neon of Las Vegas. The Venice-themed resort and casino is further distinguished as Las Vegas first convention hotel complex.
