ROCKVILLE, MD -- November, 1999 - The DoubleTree Hotel
Rockville has announced it will convert a significant portion of its current
meeting and banquet facilities into a 10,000 square foot, full-service
Executive Meeting Center.
Upon its conversion in March of 2000, the property will be the only
hotel in the area, and one of only 300 in the world, to meet the stringent
standards of the International Association of Conference Centers (IACC).
The IACC is non-profit organization whose mission is to tout the benefits
of bona-fide Executive Conference Centers as the most productive setting
for business meetings.
The new meeting facility, conceptualized with input from local meeting
planners, will offer an all-inclusive, per-person price (not including
room charges and room service) for the use of the Executive Meeting Center
facility. This includes the use of its professionally staffed, full-service
business center to generate documents, check and send e-mails, send faxes,
make copies or check a stock report.
As part of IACCs certification, the DoubleTree
Hotel Rockvilles Executive Meeting Center will offer ten separate meeting
rooms, each rigorously tested for appropriate acoustic and light levels.
These spaces will range from rooms large enough to accommodate company-wide
meetings to small conference rooms for confidential presentations and private
conference calls. Each room will also be equipped with the latest
audio-visual devices, ergonomic eight-hour chairs, built-in white boards,
tackable wall surfaces for flip charts and connectivity to high-speed data
communications.
Local meeting planners interviewed to create the propertys Executive
Meeting Center concept also stressed the importance of simplified, yet
high-quality food and beverage arrangements, keeping in mind the busy schedule
of the all-day conference attendee. Another important aspect of the
center is that it meets the growing need for meeting space in Marylands
thriving high-technology corridor. |
International Association of Conference Centers(IACC)
is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1981 to advance understanding
and awareness of conference centers as distinct and unique within the hospitality
industry.
IACC aggressively promotes the concept that bona fide
conference centers provide a more productive meeting and learning environment
than any other type of hospitality venue.
Nearly 300 conference centers around the world meet the
27 stringent standards of IACC's Universal Criteria for membership. Membership
embraces three chapters-in Australia, Europe and North America-and includes
conference centers, management companies, and suppliers of products and
services to the industry.
Meeting professionals can count on the IACC logo as their
assurance that a conference center provides superior meeting facilities
and the highest-quality meeting experience.
