Walton Street Capital Opens the $55 Million Fremont (Calif) Marriott Hotel

FREMONT, CA August 26, 1999 -- Geared toward high-tech business travel, the $55 million 357-room Fremont Marriott Hotel which will open on August 31, 1999 takes the term, "cutting edge," to a new level.  The 10-story hotel revs up for the millennium by offering the latest in guestroom telecommunications technology and more than 13,600 square feet of state-of-the-art meeting facilities.

The Fremont Marriott is the first full-service hotel to be built in the Southern region of the San Francisco East Bay in 15 years.  The upscale hotel plans to attract individual business travelers and group meetings on weekdays and emphasize the leisure and social markets on weekends.  It offers a newer and upscale alternative to other hotel and meeting facilities in the area.

"We have some of the nation's leading high-tech companies seeking a business class hotel for their colleagues and clients and we intend to be there for them starting on August 31," says General Manager Jake Allen.

The cutting edge hotel will feature 357 handsomely furnished guestrooms, 12 suites, the 135-seat Harvest Cafe and 45-seat Lobby Lounge.  A Grand Ballroom (seating 650 banquet style), a Junior Ballroom (seating 150 banquet style) and five boardrooms all provide meeting planners with a diversity of space.  A real benefit for planners is the hotel's on property "red coat" staff who oversees every detail from custom menu design to state-of-the-art audio visual and videoconferencing options.

Travelers will discover ease in conducting business on the concierge level, tap into a high-tech business center and get re-energized at a fully-equipped health club and indoor heated swimming pool with whirlpool.

Contemporary style guestrooms are outfitted with the latest technical amenities highlighting strategically placed two-line telephones with voice mail, speaker and conference capabilities, a separate dataport for personal computer hook-up, and On Command Video systems with internet access via an infrared keyboard.  Each guestroom is appointed with a spacious work center, ergonomically correct desk chairs and adjustable high intensity desk lamps, creating a flexible mobile office for business travelers.
