April, 1999 - The Spanish hotel company Sol Meliá
has recently signed a management contract with the Jangada Praia Hotel
Ltda. company to take over the management of a new hotel in Brazil, the
Hotel Sol Jangada Fortaleza at the end of May. After beginning operations
in Brazil in 1992, this will be the ninth city or resort hotel managed
by Sol Meliá in the country, providing a total of 1,273 rooms.
The three-star Sol Jangada Fortaleza is located in Fortaleza on the
northern coast of Brazil and provides 160 rooms, all with fax and modem
connections, and perfectly equipped to satisfy the needs of the modern
male or female business traveler.
The newly-built hotel will also provide a large convention hall suitable
for the widest range of events as well as a restaurant, a large swimming
pool and a modern Fitness Center with sauna and massage facilities amongst
others.
The take-over of its ninth hotel in Brazil is another step for Sol Meliá
towards the achievement of the Company�s diversified growth strategy for
Latin America and the Caribbean, a region where it is now the leading hotel
company. The Spanish company now operates 51 hotels in the region with
more than 12,000 rooms in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba,
the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Mexico, Uruguay and Venezuela.

direct dial telephone, safe deposit box and fax and modem connections.
