Beverly Hills, October 16, 1998 - The Regent Beverly Wilshire
has completed an historic, all encompassing $35 million renovation and
now offers the citys largest number of suites -- 120 suites with two presidential
suites among 395 richly-appointed guest rooms.
The increased number of rooms and suites was made possible by opening the top six floors of the Beverly Wing in response to increased demand by discerning travelers. For the first time in the hotels history, both wings are equally inviting with new decors and all of our accommodations are available for guests, Peter OColmain, Vice President and General Manager of The Regent Beverly Wilshire, explained. The renovation, orchestrated by the international design firm Hirsch Bedner & Associates, has made The Regent Beverly Wilshire au courant without sacrificing the history and ambience of the Beverly Hills landmark hotel. The design goal of the renovation was to preserve the rich visual history of the hotel while advancing its technological amenities, explained Kathleen Dauber, senior designer at Hirsch Bedner & Associates. Phone and data lines have been added to all rooms along with state of the art audio and video equipment. The Presidential Suite has a direct satellite hook-up along with state of the art audio and video. The room designs in the two wings of the hotel combine to provide an updated image for The Regent Beverly Wilshire where classic meets chic. The Wilshire Wing suites and guest rooms incorporate classic elements to reflect its status as the original wing, built in 1928. Wilshire Wing suites are designed with traditional furniture and the added freshness of updated traditional toiles and Florentine prints all in bright colors. The overall design palette is sunny, with rich accents in the fabrics and warm mahogany wood finishes. The Beverly Wing, built in 1971, incorporates furniture in a modern
deco style with beautiful mahogany and subtle Asian influences. You might
say the Beverly Wing guest rooms reflect more of an Armani feel, while
the Wilshire Wing reflects more of a taste for Chanel, Dauber explained.
There are nine categories of guest rooms based on size, location and view. There are Superior rooms, suitable for the individual business traveler, with 365 square feet in the Beverly Wing and Regent Deluxe rooms with 760 square feet in the Wilshire Wing. Regent Deluxe rooms can actually be described as junior suites because the rooms have a spacious layout. Deluxe View rooms, ranging from 625 to 675 square feet, are brand new on the Beverly Wings upper floors. There are guest rooms with mountain views and cityscape views. Superior Pool View rooms have private balconies which overlook the pool. In addition to the presidential suites, there are six types of suites ranging from the Veranda Suite with 750 square feet with a private stairway entrance to the Two-Bedroom Suite which has two bedrooms and two bathrooms in 1,530 square feet. The Wilshire One-Bedroom Suites have commanding views of the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Rodeo Drive. Beverly One-Bedroom Suites, brand new suites on the Beverly Wings upper floors, are corner suites with sweeping 270-degree views. The Penthouse Suite, in the hotels contemporary Beverly Wing, will be inaugurated in January 1999 at a rate of $7,500 per night, and the suite encompasses nearly 5,000 square feet with 3 expansive bedrooms and 3 ½ bathrooms. The Regent Beverly Wilshire receives the highest price in Southern California for its presidential suite and penthouse suite. These suites are among the best in the nation. The nearly 4,000 square foot Presidential Suite in the classic Wilshire Wing, home to many heads of state and celebrities, is $5,000 per night and encompasses 2 spacious bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. Public areas, such as The Lobby Lounge, meeting rooms and banquet rooms,
have also been updated with the goal of preserving the elegance of the
past while making the public areas more inviting and appealing to the stylish
tastes of todays upscale Regent visitor.
