MEMPHIS, Tenn., Jan. 13, 1999 - Promus Hotel Corporation
(NYSE: PRH) today announced that William S. Harrison has been named Senior
Vice President, Treasurer/Mergers Acquisitions, effective immediately.
Mr. Harrison has had a distinguished career as a senior level executive
specializing in corporate finance and strategy. He formerly served as Vice
President, Business Development of USFG Corporation. In this position,
he held a leadership role in evaluating strategic alternatives and leading
the company's merger and acquisition program. Prior to joining USFG, he
served as Vice President, Corporate Finance of Alex. Brown Sons, Incorporated.
He began his career as an attorney specializing in MA and corporate finance
at the law firm of Cravath, Swaine Moore.

Mr. Harrison received a JD from Columbia University School of Law and BA
in economics and classics from Williams College.
Mr. Harrison will replace Carol Champion, who will be leaving the company
to pursue other interests. Promus Hotel Corporation is one of the world's

United States and in Canada, Mexico and Latin America. It is the franchisor
