Accor Boosts International Sales & Marketing
Team in Asia

February 1999: The implementation of the global Accor 2000 project is having a highly positive impact on Asia with the strengthening of the Bangkok-based Asian sales and marketing force and the appointment of new international sales officers in key centres around Asia.

John Davis-Slade has been appointed Vice President Sales & Marketing - Asia, with Rob Hornman formerly based in Accors Jakarta office - transferring to the Bangkok corporate office as Director of Marketing Support Asia.

Regional sales offices are based in India, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.

One of the key priorities of the Accor 2000 project has been the establishment of a global sales force designed to develop business for the Accor network. In addition to regional sales offices, Accor has established a number of International Sales Offices (ISOs) under the stewardship of Michael Flynn, who has been appointed Senior Vice President International Marketing & Sales. Flynn will have responsibility for Accors global sales and marketing in the Asia Pacific region.

International Sales Offices have been established in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo, Sydney and Singapore. Monica Gayandato is the latest to be appointed as an International Sales Co-ordinator, heading up the Singapore office. Ms Gayandato takes up the position after a long career with Southern Pacific Hotels based in Kuala Lumpur. She has extensive experience in both international sales and marketing and hotel operations.

Michael Flynn says that Accor was investing heavily in developing a comprehensive network of specialist international sales and marketing professionals who could sell the full 2,800 hotel network.

The Accor 2000 project will have enormous benefits for our hotels in Asia as we are establishing a worldwide network of sales professionals who can sell Asia to outbound growth markets such as Europe, North America and Australia, said Flynn.

The establishment of the team recognises the global nature of our business. We are taking a global perspective in all areas of our operations from brands and sales and marketing through to reservations technology and hotel operations. We believe that this strategy will give us a significant edge as we enter the new millennium.

Accor is the largest hotel and tourism group in the world with 2,800 hotels, car rental, travel agency, catering operations and other tourism services.
