Hilton Foundation Donates $2.5 Million
to Conrad N. Hilton College, University of Houston
---

Houston, TX - June 1998 - The Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Houston has been awarded $2.5 million to kick off a $4 million effort to renovate the College's facilities.

Eric Hilton, son of the school's namesake, hotelier Conrad N. Hilton, presented the check to College Dean Alan Stutts and University of Houston President Dr. Arthur Smith.  The $2.5 million is more than half the amount needed by the College to renovate guest rooms, meeting spaces and food & beverage facilities at the College's Hilton Hotel.  The $4 million project is expected to be completed in 2000.

The Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel and Restaurant Management has long been recognized as a premier education facility for preparing leaders for the hotel, restaurant and hospitality industry.  The College also holds an international position of respect as a research facility and consultant in all areas of the global hotel, restaurant and hospitality industry - from futuristic food production and food safety to understanding the ever-changing international needs of accommodating a world on the move. Projects such as this enable the institution to remain a leader in both what it teachers and in the facilities it provides its students and staff.
