New Castle Hotels & Resorts Chooses American Hotel
Educational Institute for Supervisory Training
Orlando, Florida, June 30, 2008— In keeping with New Castle Hotels & Resorts’ (NCHR) status as a first class hotel operator and proponent of employee training, development and engagement, the company has partnered with the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (EI) to implement the Supervisory Skill Builders program at all its U.S. and Canadian hotels. New Castle, a Connecticut-based hotel owner and management company will offer supervisors and managers the opportunity to complete the online version of Supervisory Skill Builders, in conjunction with professional mentoring by senior managers.
Supervisory Skill Builders contains nine modules, each featuring an in-depth discussion of tools that will help new hospitality supervisors perform their jobs more effectively. The concepts taught in the workbooks help supervisors meet management objectives for productivity and guest service; gain respect, trust, and support from the employees they supervise; improve communications and performance; and increase employee motivation.
Topics in the nine-workbook series are:
“As a company, we take pride in our high level of internal promotion, and we believe this new partnership with the AH&LA’s Educational Institute will further enhance our ability to develop and reward our team members,” said Marian R. Barbieri, New Castle’s vice president of human resources. “We are very excited that more than 160 supervisors and managers have been identified to participate in the Supervisory Skill Builders training tool over the next 12 months.”
Completion of EI’s Supervisory Skill Builders program prepares supervisors to take the exam for the Certified Hospitality Supervisor (CHS) designation. Professional certification validates an employee’s knowledge and skills and recognizes and rewards them for their achievements. The CHS is also a solid starting point for developing a career ladder that will lead to future certifications for managers, department heads, and ultimately, general managers.
“The Educational Institute is pleased that New Castle has chosen the Supervisory Skill Builders program and CHS certification as a starting point in the professional development of their management staff,” said Roy Kennington, CHA, EI’s president and COO.
New Castle Hotels & Resorts portfolio includes 30 resorts and hotels the company manages, owns or is developing in the United States and Canada. The privately held hotel management company consistently ranks in the country’s top 100 hotel management and development companies in hospitality industry trade publications. New Castle celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2005. For more information on New Castle Hotels & Resorts, please contact Gerald P.
