$18 million Renovation of 510 Guest Rooms |
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (April
2003) Upon the renovation of 125 guest rooms in The Grove Park Inn Resort
& Spas Vanderbilt Wing, the resort will have completed an ambitious
project to update and upgrade all of its guest rooms.
Completion of the $4.2-million project is expected by mid-July. During our renovation process, we won the prestigious Spa Finders Readers Choice Award for accommodations, said Executive Engineering Manager Ken Powell. We are constantly reinventing ourselves and its a continuing process to enhance the guest room experience. Each of the 125 rooms are being stripped down to the bare walls and completely redone from floor to ceiling. Modern conveniences and amenities will adorn the guest rooms, everything from new carpet and furniture, modern artwork and complete redesigned bathrooms with new fixtures, tiled walls, new tub surrounds and marbled vanities. Each Vanderbilt Wing room will now have mission-style armoires enclosing televisions, stereos with CD players, microwaves, refrigerators and coffee makers. The guest room renovation is part of a three-year, $63-million property improvement program that also included the addition of a world-class $40-million, 40,000 square foot spa, restoration of the resorts Donald Ross designed golf course, retiling the historic Main Inn roof and expanding the Sports Complex. The cost of the entire resort room refurbishment over the last four years has totaled $18-million. The Vanderbilt Wing was originally added to the resort in 1988 and brought the number of guest rooms at The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa to its current total of 510. After the Vanderbilt Wing renovations, GPI will begin upgrades to their 28 Club Floor level rooms and 12 suites. Current plans call for themed suites including a Donald Ross suite, Great Gatsby suite and a Zen Den. Those renovations are expected to begin in January 2004. |
