ASHEVILLE, N.C. (February 2000) � The Grove
Park Inn Resort�s eighteen-month, $36.5 million property improvement project
~ highlighted by the construction of a 40,000 square-foot, underground
spa ~ is well underway. In addition to the world-class spa,
property improvements include an improved and expanded Sports Complex,
retiling of the Main Inn roof and a new laundry.
The Sports Complex and laundry are nearly complete; the roof should
be finished April 1, and the Spa September 15. When the spa is completed,
the resort will become The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa.
Here are highlights:

Spa � cost: $27 million; anticipated completion date: September 15
(open for guests shortly thereafter)

Sports Complex - cost: $3.5 million (including new outdoor tennis courts);
details: indoor pool, three indoor tennis courts, racquetball, retail space,
Children�s Program room; separate weight, cardio and aerobic rooms; two
sets of locker rooms; adjacent children�s playground

Main Inn roof � cost: $3.5 million; anticipated completion date: April
1; details: new Palm Court skylight installation mid-March; 400,000 custom
clay tiles used

Laundry � cost: $2.5 million; anticipated completion date: February 18;
details: automatic, computer-controlled, 2000 lbs/hr laundry loading and
unloading system; complete dry cleaning room
The Spa is scheduled to open in Fall 2000.
It was designed by the prestigious LeBlond Partnership, the firm behind
theBanff Springs Hotel Solace Health Spa in Canada.
The Spa is the centerpiece of a multimillion-dollar plan
toprepare the Inn for the new millennium. Among the benefits will be enhanced
views, beautified grounds, and the restoration of the Main Inn roof. |
