PARADISE ISLAND, The Bahamas, March 20, 2002 - The grand re-opening
of the Sheraton Grand Resort Paradise Island will take place May 1, 2002,
according to a resort official.
"Our
schedule right now is to get the hotel operational the very first day of
May," said Alfred Gorlick, CHA, Vice President & General Manager of
the 340-room beachfront property. The hotel has been closed since
last November 6 after being struck by Hurricane Michelle. "It has
taken quite a bit of time to not only to do clean-up work, but to enhance
certain features of the resort as well."
"A negative situation has allowed us to turn the Sheraton Grand into
a positive scenario," said Gorlick, "because it has enabled us to upgrade
certain public areas of the resort, including putting in new exterior landscaping,
new carpeting and furniture in the lobby and upgrading two of our four
restaurants. We're close to being finished and returning it to the
way it was just after we completed our $10 million renovation less than
two years ago."
Located next door to the world-famous Atlantis Casino, the Sheraton
Grand also is within walking distance of duty-free shopping, nightlife
and downtown Nassau. It is also nearby championship golf and a wide
variety of tourist attractions.
The 14-story resort features four restaurants, three bars, on-site
fitness center, day and night tennis, Bahama Divers scuba and snorkel shop,
oceanfront freshwater swimming pool, and a white-sand beach that rivals
any beach in the islands.
In addition, every guest accommodation, including rooms and suites,
have a guaranteed view of the ocean and private balcony. Accommodation
amenities include minibar, safe for valuables, direct dial telephone with
voicemail and data port, cable TV with pay-per-view-movies, hair dryer,
iron and ironing board, and coffeemaker. |
