Member of the 2001

ATLANTA (April 1, 2002) Marriott International recently named Pepper Martin, Maintenance Chief at the TownePlace Suites-Kennesaw hotel, winner of the franchise Service Team Member of the 2001 Award.

Nominated by General Manager Warren Schatzle and management company Day Hospitality Group (DHG), Martin competed against representatives from 95 TownePlace Suites hotels nationwide.  As Marriotts guest, he traveled to the annual Marriott Managers Meeting in San Diego, California to receive the award.

Pepper earned this honor for his dedication to his job and his service to our hotels guests, said GM Warren Schatzle.  He tirelessly does whatever it takes to get the job done each day.

With Day Hospitality Group for more than two years, Martin joined to help open the new TownePlace Suites in Kennesaw. Both he and his wife Betty have worked at the hotel ever since.  She was recently promoted to Operations Manager.

Pepper has a great work ethic and maintains an aggressive work schedule, said Fred Cerrone, company President.  Were also proud of the way he connects with our guests.

Schatzle tells the story that about midnight one evening, Martin received a call from a guest who needed an iron that night. Martin immediately went out and purchased an iron so that the guest could be prepared for an important early morning meeting.

Pepper makes sure our hotel delivers world class service, said General Manager Warren Schatzle.  On one occasion, he purchased a new umbrella for a guest he observed in the parking lot struggling to stay dry during a downpour.  He placed the umbrella in the guests room with a note saying thanks for staying with us at TPS.

Pepper is a true ambassador of hospitality and kindness, added Schatzle.  His efforts and attitude make him an asset to our team.
