Majority of Rooms Booked BOCA RATON, Fla. - February 1, 2002 - The Yacht Club at the Boca Raton Resort & Club opened today, two months ahead of schedule and with the majority of its 112 deluxe, waterfront guestrooms and suites booked. The new boutique hotel was originally scheduled to open in April, but resort officials pushed the date up in an effort to have the facility open in time for the culmination of the Resort & Club's 75th anniversary year on Feb. 6. With the facility staffed and ready for opening, and high resort occupancy necessitating the use of the additional rooms, the Yacht Club began checking guests in today. Setting a new standard in luxury travel, the Yacht Club features distinctively appointed accommodations almost twice the size of standard guest rooms, butler service, concierge lounge and marina with 27 slips for yachts 100 feet and longer. Rates at the new Yacht Club range from $525 to $750 per room, per night. Official opening ceremonies will be hosted later this month. "For the Boca Raton Resort & Club to open a luxury hotel early, with premium rates and forecast high occupancy their first month in operation, during a time when most hotels across the country are cutting back on staff and stalling enhancement projects, is encouraging for all of us in Florida's tourism industry," says Austin L. Mott, president of Visit Florida, the state's tourism marketing organization. "The Resort & Club was one of the first - and remains among the top - resorts in South Florida and they have great appeal to the high-end traveler, so their success with the Yacht Club is not surprising," Mott says. The Yacht Club marks the culmination of a full year of new developments and enhancements that the Boca Raton Resort & Club launched in celebration of their 75th anniversary on Feb. 6, 2001. Their 50,000-square-foot Spa Palazzo and a two-story golf clubhouse opened in Dec. 2001, and a new Drew Nieporent restaurant and bar designed by David Rockwell plus a lobby expansion, guestroom renovation and enhancement of most public spaces were all completed in 2001. "Our clientele expects the finest in facilities and services, and our goal is to not only meet but exceed those expectations," says David S. Feder, president of the Boca Raton Resort & Club. "We want to not only remain competitive but set new benchmarks in luxury travel, and to do so, we must continue to evolve this historic property with the best in service and accommodations while maintaining our architectural and historical integrity - the Yacht Club is a good example of our continued, successful evolution," he says. The eight-story Yacht Club majestically presides over the Intracoastal Waterway, and features 100 spacious guestrooms - some of the largest in the country at 600 square feet, and 12 suites. Each guest accommodation includes a private balcony overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway, and from the fifth through eighth floors, sweeping views of the Intracoastal and the Atlantic Ocean. Distinctively-appointed rooms offer sleeping areas separate from sitting parlors, custom-designed furnishings and accessories, specially commissioned artwork and bathrooms of Italian marble. Standard in-room amenities include two televisions per guestroom (one in sleeping room and one in parlor), high-speed Internet modem and data ports, facsimile machine, two-line telephones and honor bar. The Yacht Club's eighth-floor concierge level offers guests a private
lounge with staff available to coordinate arrangements of every kind and
level of detail, ranging from airline ticketing to translation services
and customized vacation itineraries. Complimentary meal presentations
include continental breakfast, lunch and dinner hors d'oeuvres, afternoon
tea, and late evening cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. On-call butlers
are accessible by all Yacht Club guests, to provide personal services such
as pre-setting guestrooms with preferred amenities, unpacking luggage and
arranging private in-room dining menus.
The Yacht Club is one of five separate accommodations located at the Resort & Club, including the historic Cloister, panoramic Tower, intimate Beach Club and secluded Golf Villas. As with all Resort & Club guests, those staying in the Yacht Club have access to all resort amenities. Located in the heart of Florida's Gold Coast in Palm Beach County, the Boca Raton Resort & Club, a security-gated private property, is one of the country's premier destination resorts and private club facilities. Set within a backdrop of casual elegance, Boca's amenities include two 18-hole championship golf courses, 30 tennis courts, several pools, state-of-the-art fitness centers, a half-mile stretch of private beach and a variety of watersports. |
