MEMPHIS, Tenn., February 25, 2002 � Homewood Suites by Hilton, the
national brand of upscale, all-suite, residential-style hotels, today announced
that it has completed and opened its first hotel conversion project,
the 140-suite Homewood Suites by Hilton hotel in Oakland, Calif. The hotel
is owned by Oakland Hospitality, Inc (contact: John Pryor, Oakland Hospitality,
970-728-6283) and operated under a franchise license agreement with Promus
Hotels, Inc., the franchise subsidiary of Beverly Hills-based Hilton Hotels
Corporation.
The Homewood Suites by Hilton Oakland-Waterfront hotel was an ideal conversion candidate because of its spectacular location and unique design that combines the best of waterfront design and Homewood Suites by Hilton prototype standards. Converted prior to the construction phase, the project was originally designed as another extended stay product when Homewood Suites by Hilton was approached by the developer for consideration as a conversion candidate. Located at 1103 Embarcadero Drive, the hotel is within minutes from the Oakland Airport, Oakland Coliseum, Downtown Oakland and Jack London Square.
