SEATTLE
- July 23, 2001 - The much-anticipated Elliott Grand Hyatt Seattle debuted
today, becoming the first member of the distinguished Leading Hotels of
the World to be located in the United States Pacific Northwest. In keeping
with Seattles rising cosmopolitan style and high-tech stature, the Elliott
Grand Hyatt Seattle combines unsurpassed technology with the warmth and
service of a sophisticated city residence. Its 425-room tower overlooks
the stunning snow-capped peaks of the Olympic and Cascade Mountains and
the bustle of Elliott Bay.
The hotel offers the epitome of contemporary luxury, based on a foundation
of incredibly personalized service and supported by invisible high-tech
amenities in all areas, says General Manager Doug Sears, a Seattle native.
When it comes to service, we emphasize details and go beyond the expected.
In an unprecedented move, the prestigious Leading Hotels of the World organization
accepted the Elliott Grand Hyatt Seattle before its doors were even opened.
From the outside in, the Elliott Grand Hyatt Seattle reflects the vision
of Richard Hedreen, developer and passionate art collector. Principals
Gerry Gerron and Ted Caloger of Bellevue, WA-based MulvannyG2 Architecture
created a building of remarkable beauty inspired by the rich and eclectic
neighborhood in which it resides. To complement the nearby buildings, the
hotel is composed of smaller elements and facades, a rich palette of materials
and an earthy color scheme. The main entrance is graced by Willem de Koonings
original bronze sculpture, The Reclining Figure, chosen from Hedreens
extensive private collection. The artwork that graces the guestrooms and
the public areas was selected by Hedreen to enhance the hotels elite status.
Zena Design Groups Betty Blounts interiors are of unpretentious luxury
with an earthy-yet-cosmopolitan feel, featuring Bubinga and other rare
woods, Travertine stone and lighting designed by local glass artisans.
Vivid colors from fresh flowers, in-room amenities, and original art bounce
off the clean lines of mahogany furnishings, matte walls and textured fabrics.
Stone floors and ledges and onyx lighting fixtures continue the classic-yet-modern
theme. Deep cast-iron tubs and separate glass-enclosed showers are the
primary focus of the spacious bathrooms, which feature white Carrara marble,
Vesuvio granite and amber-toned walls. In all guestrooms and suites, Cherry
wood shoji doors with opaque glass panels allow a mellow glow to permeate
throughout.
Meanwhile, all rooms have invisible computers for browsing the Web,
checking e-mail, and using the hotels digital concierge. According to
the hotels Technology Officer Derek Bottles, The Elliott Grand Hyatt
Seattle has the most powerful Web-based, multi-media system in the country
today, with advanced features that set it apart from other tech hotels.
Upgraded amenities and services grace the guestrooms and suites on the
Regency Club floor; they include a dedicated concierge staff, exclusive
access to the Club Lounge, and complimentary meal presentations throughout
the day.
For guests and locals alike, 727 Pine, the hotels restaurant, will
serve Eclectic Northwest cuisine, showcasing the talents of award-winning
Executive Chef Danielle R. Custer, whose motto is think global, cook local.
Chuck Thompson and Maria Tenaglia designed the multi-venue restaurant with
fluid elegance using rich cherry, mahogany and curly maple woods in addition
to a variety of lively fabrics and brushed metals. Erik Liedholm, the hotels
Director of Wine and Spirits, will carefully pair some 1500 wines with
Custers menus. Perched above the more formal dining room, the street level
offers both a bar and casual raised dining area with a wood-burning oven.
727 Pine also boasts two display kitchens and a private wine cellar dining
room for special functions.
The Elliott Grand Hyatt Seattle is setting the hospitality standard
in the Pacific Northwest as one of the smartest luxury properties in
the world. The exquisitely appointed hotel offers 25,000 square feet of
meeting/function space, state-of-the-art technology, and a fully-equipped

chef, and commitment to personalized service make the Elliott Grand Hyatt
Seattle equally seductive for business and leisure travelers.
