Beijing Tourism Group Assigns Accor the Management Contract for the Xinqiao Hotel in Beijing

March 7, 2001- Accor has strengthened its position in China's competitive hotel sector with an agreement to manage the 740-room Xinqiao Hotel in Beijing.

The hotel will be branded a Novotel and is Accor's second hotel in the Chinese capital after the addition of the famous Novotel Peace Hotel in April 2000.

The agreement was signed during the visit of Mr Sven Boinet, Accor member of the management board in charge of hotels, and marks the second agreement between Accor and the hotel's owning company, Beijing Tourism Group (BTG).

The Xinqiao Hotel is a four-star property located in the heart of Beijing, and features a new lobby, 400 rooms and suites, public areas, all which were added to the original development in 1998. It is within walking distance of famed Tiananmen Square and the mysterious Forbidden City, and includes an outstanding selection of restaurants, a modern business centre and superb meeting facilities.

Welcoming the addition of the Xingiao Hotel, Accor's Vice President China, Mr Richard Kaldor, said the hotel was one of Beijing's best located properties for both business and leisure travellers, and this would be further enhanced with the addition of Novotel branding.

"We are extremely gratified to expand our relationship with Beijing Tourism Group and Accor is pleased we have strengthened this partnership with our second Novotel in Beijing. We hope that it is just one more addition to what will be a growing and mutually beneficial business relationship in the years to come. The Xingqiao Hotel is very important to Accor as it enhances our existing hotel network in China" he added.

The Xinqiao Hotel will be another vital addition to the global Novotel network, which comprises over 330 hotels and resorts. It is part of a major expansion drive by Accor in China, with the French-based  company now represented by Sofitel and Novotel hotels in Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Hefei, Jinan and Zhengzhou. Another strategic Novotel opened in the Pudong area of Shanghai last year.
