Vietnam News, Hanoi / Asia News NetworkMcClatchy-Tribune Regional News May 31--KIEN GIANG (Viet Nam News/ANN) -- With the number of visitors to Phu Quoc Island in Kien Giang Province of Vietnam on the rise, the island district will need around 3,000 new hotel rooms in the next 2-3 years, local authorities estimate. Le Minh Hoang, director of the Kien Giang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said the number of visitors to Phu Quoc had risen from 38,000 tourists per month in the previous years to around 70,000 per month recently. Currently, the island has about 2,900 hotel rooms, only 600 of which have star ratings.
