The Augusta Chronicle, Ga.McClatchy-Tribune Regional News

May 31--Augusta visitors are expected to spend about $1.7 million in June.

The Augusta Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Augusta Sports Council released their monthly report showing that next month more than 3,300 guests will attend five events, ranging from a rugby tournament to a national wildlife convention, in Augusta.

The event anticipated to raise the most revenue is an annual meeting for the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Georgia, which could generate about $783,000 from 1,900 visitors during June 17-23.

Direct visitor spending is calculated by the number of overnight hotel rooms that are occupied.
