BRIEF: After $7 million renovation, Terrible's casino now the Silver Sevens (Las Vegas Sun)

By Ed Komenda, Las Vegas SunMcClatchy-Tribune Regional News

May 17--The Terrible's cowboy is taking the next horse and buggy right outta town.

The Affinity Gaming casino has a new name: The Silver Sevens Hotel & Casino.

Affinity's decision to change the name comes after a $7 million, 18-month renovation that included an expanded bar, new sports book and upgraded rooms.

Terrible's cowboy signage will be dismantled May 20 and donated to the Neon Museum as a piece of Las Vegas history. The company expects to begin installing Silver Sevens signage in late June.

"We went with Silver Sevens because it has that vintage feel," said David Nolan, the property's general manager.

The property saw its first major renovation in 2000, when the Herbst family invested $65 million to refurbish it. A tower was added in 2007.

Affinity Gaming bought Terrible's out of bankruptcy in 2009 and decided to keep the name because locals recognize it.
