$500 million European-style mixed-use development coming to Westlake (Fort Worth Star-Telegram)

May 07--WESTLAKE -- After months of discussions and several meetings with residents, a concept plan for a $500 million, mixed-use development in Westlake was approved by Town Council.

Plans for Westlake Entrada, a European-style village to be at Texas 114 and FM 1938/Davis Boulevard, include a a 3,000-seat amphitheater, a hotel, retail shops, restaurants and up to 322 residences made up of single-family detached homes, villas or town homes.

Westlake Town Council unanimously approved the concept April 22 following a unanimous recommendation from the Planning and Zoning Commission.

Council also approved an economic development agreement with the developers, Mehrdad Moayedi of Centurion American and Jeff Blackard, for the developers to pay the town $10,000 per residential unit as they are final platted in Entrada.

"We are hoping it's going to be a place to bring the community together, a place to gather and mix and mingle," said Eddie Edwards, director of planning and development. "A large open area surrounded by shops and cafes, a place with a good sense of community."

Edwards said discussions also are being held about relocating town offices and the fire department within the new development.

Westlake Entrada originally included apartments in the proposal but after resistance from residents, the idea was eliminated.

Developers withdrew the original proposal and held charrettes with residents to get input and explore ideas before bringing the item back for a vote in April.

Edwards said the next step is for the developers to bring a detailed site plan to council.
