By Mary Perez, The Sun HeraldMcClatchy-Tribune Regional News April 22--GULFPORT -- Permission to proceed with construction of a casino at the Gulfport Harbor expired last week when the developers were unable to complete financing for the $112 million resort. That means that if Rotate Black is able to get financing, the developer will have to return to the Gaming Commission with its building and financial plans and go through the review process again, said Allen Godfrey, executive director of the Mississippi Gaming Commission. Rotate Black hasn't responded to the Sun Herald for comment. The Gaming Commission approved the project in August 2012, contingent on Rotate Black delivering the required documents showing it has the financial backing to construct and operate the resort. Rotate Black requested an extension of the permission to proceed in January, and the Gaming Commission granted the extension, but gave a final deadline of April 17.
