Norman J. Cavin, Former VP and Brand Manager at Choice, 
Joins Baymont Inns as SVP of Marketing
MILWAUKEE- - July 17, 2000--Baymont Inns & Suites today announced the appointment of Norman J. Cavin, a seasoned lodging industry marketing executive with extensive experience in the mid-priced segment, as senior vice president of marketing.  Baymont Inns & Suites is a division of The Marcus Corporation.

Before joining Baymont Inns & Suites, Cavin, 45, served as vice president and brand manager for Choice Hotels International, Washington, DC. He has over 18 years of experience in marketing management and executive positions with Choice Hotels International, Hampton Inns and La Quinta Inns. 

�We are pleased to have Norm lead the Baymont Inns & Suites sales and marketing team. His vast experience and proven track record will be important in our efforts to position Baymont as the �best in class� chain in the mid-priced segment,� said Jim Abrahamson, president and chief operating officer of the Baymont Inns & Suites division. 

�Norm�s strengths are strategic marketing, brand management, on-line promotion and reservations, product development and brand expansion. His experience in brand positioning and management with leading national competitors is a valuable benefit as we position and increase Baymont Inns & Suites� market share,� said Abrahamson. 
Cavin will assume responsibility of marketing direction for Baymont�s corporate and franchise properties. In additional to his responsibilities for the Baymont brand, Cavin will lead marketing efforts for the division�s Woodfield Suites properties. 

As vice president and brand manager for Choice Hotels International, Cavin was most recently responsible for the re-positioning of the company�s Sleep Inn brand. During his five years with Hampton Inns & Suites, he directed national marketing efforts for the firm and also led the chain�s successful development of an on-line reservation access strategy. 

Cavin received a B.A. degree in communications from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio, in 1977. 

The company currently has 171 Baymont properties in 30 states, 95 company-owned and 76 franchised. An additional 26 franchised properties are in development or under construction.
