 Klaus Bowers Named General Manager of the Year 
for Leisure Hotels
HUTCHINSON, KS - May 19, 2000  Klaus Bowers, Manager of Hampton Inn, Manhattan, Kansas, was named General Manager of the Year for Leisure Hotels, LLC as the fast-growing hospitality' management firm recognized the year's outstanding accomplishments of its hotel managers.

The awards were presented during the General Managers Meeting at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites in Hutchinson, Kansas.
 

"We're proud to recognize the achievements of our hotel general managers," said Wayne J. Heintz, Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer of Leisure Hotels, L.L.C. "Our managers exemplify our company goals and expectations. Klaus and the staff at Hampton Inn provide outstanding service to our customers while maintaining an efficient and profitable operation. He is certainly deserving of the Manager of the Year Award." Bowers also received recognition for achieving the Best Labor Productivity ranking at 163 under standard.

received recognition for achieving the Highest Operating Profit Flow-through Percentage at 103%; the Lowest Overtime Hours at .53%; and the Highest Occupancy Percentage.

The Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites in Garden City, Kansas, topped the rankings in three categories under the leadership of General Manager Linda Schlegal netting the Highest Increase in Operating Profit at 24%, the Highest Increase in Average Daily Rate at 8%; and the Highest Increase in Total Hotel Revenue at 14%. Cherie Morton, General Manager of the Days Inn of Garden City, took top honors with the Highest Increase in Occupancy up 10.6%, as well as the Highest Increase in Customer Satisfaction, up 3%.

Hutchinson Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites General Manager, Edna Otto, was recognized for achieving the Highest Average Daily Room Rate.

Leisure Hotels, L.L.C. operates limited-service and extended-stay hotels throughout Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and New Mexico under such well respected names as Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites, Hampton Inn, Hawthorn Suites LTD., Microtel Inn & Suites, Days Inn and Super 8 Motel. The company recently opened a new Hawthorn Suites LTD. in Columbia, Missouri, and a Microtel Inn & Suites in Independence, Kansas. A 90-suite Hawthorn Suites LTD. is scheduled to open in West Des Moines, Iowa, in July 2000, with an October opening planned for the 120-room Hawthorn Suites Golf and Convention Resort in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Additional new hotels are currently under development in Kansas, Iowa, and South Dakota.
