In Excess of $34 million in Hotel Commissions Sent Out
Per Month by Pegasus Commission Processing
Now Serves 100,000 Travel Agencies
DALLAS and SINGAPORE (August 2, 2000) Pegasus Solutions, Inc. (Nasdaq: PEGS) today announced it has achieved the milestone of 100,000 travel agency locations around the world subscribing to its Pegasus Commission Processing Service.

According to Jeff Bzdawka, senior vice president of Pegasus Financial Services, the 100,000 milestone is especially impressive since the consolidated commission processing service was launched in 1992 with 1,224 travel agency locations in two countries.  Today, the service represents agencies in 207 countries and more than 90 hotel chains, representing more than 31,000 contracted properties in more than 159 countries, and processes in excess of $34 million in hotel commissions per month.

In just over the last year, Pegasus Commission Processing experienced a 21 percent increase in its travel agency membership.  A significant part of this growth resulted from Pegasus securing new participation of several key industry players to its service, including:

  • Carlson Wagonlit Travel, Inc.
  • Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA)
  • Galileo Internationals Global Partners SolutionsSM Program
  • Rosenbluth International
  • SatoTravel
I think our phenomenal worldwide growth can be attributed to several things, Bzdawka said.

Travel agents around the world clearly recognize the benefits that outsourcing their hotel commission collection and processing brings.  Weve delivered on our commitment to add to and diversify our base of hotel participants from which travel agents can receive a consolidated payment.  And, weve taken the time to listen to travel agencies of all sizes and translate that critical input into added value within our service offerings.

On a monthly basis, Pegasus collects from its 31,000 member hotels actual guest stay information related to hotel bookings made by travel agents.  After consolidating the hotels information and commission payments with that of other Pegasus participating hotels, Pegasus sends a consolidated commission payment to its member travel agencies worldwide.  The 100,000 travel agency locations subscribing to Pegasus service also receive detailed reporting of actual
guest stays, cancellations and no shows and can elect to receive total automated commission management through Pegasus reconciliation and tracking service.

Todays economic times demand that companies work smarter.  By joining the Pegasus Commission Processing service, travel agents and hoteliers can do just that, Bzdawka said.  Pegasus is the hotel industrys recognized solution for travel agent commission processing, and we foresee continued growth within both the travel agency and hotel communities.

Dallas-based Pegasus Solutions, Inc. is a leading provider of end-to-end reservation distribution solutions to the hotel industry worldwide.
