WASHINGTON, DC (August 1,2000) - The HSMAI Nominating Committee officially
announced the organization's new Executive Committee officers and Board
of Directors. The new leadership became effective at the start of the annual
HSMAI Sales & Marketing Summit last week, which marked the beginning
of the 2000-2001 administrative year.
The new seven-member Executive Committee includes:

Chairman: William (Bill) Weld, CHME, vice president of sales and
marketing, Allegiant.

Chairman-elect: Bruce Himelstein, senior vice president, sales and
marketing, Marriott Senior Living Services

Vice Chair: Erica Kasel, CHME, executive director of marketing,
Leading Hotels of the World

William {Bill) Weld joined Allegiant this past March to oversee all
sales and marketing efforts and to grow Allegiant's national portfolio
(Earlier this year, Telerent Lodging Systems bought Middle Georgia Corp.
and merged both companies to form Allegiant, which is based in Raleigh,
NC). With over 25 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Weld
most recently served as vice president international sales and service
with Cendant Corporation. During his tenure there, Weld was responsible
for expanding the Cendant International Hotel brands into the global marketplace
as well as overseeing 17 Cendant international sales offices.
