Jennifer Wayland-Smith Named Director at 
Hotel Hershey's New $7 million Spa

HERSHEY, PA  --  23 Jun 2000 - Maarten van Wijk, General Manager of The Hotel Hershey, has announced that Jennifer Wayland-Smith has been appointed Spa Director for The Spa at The Hotel Hershey.  Wayland-Smith will be responsible for the day to day operations and long range planning of the Spa and ensuring the highest quality operation and growth through hands-on management and progressive program development.  She will also oversee and be responsible for budgets, sales, staffing and management of the Spa.

Prior to joining The Spa at The Hotel Hershey, Wayland-Smith was Spa Director for the Spa at Chateau Elan Winery and Resort in Braselton, Georgia.  Wayland-Smith comes to Hershey with additional experience as Spa Director for the Spa at Saddlebrook Resort, Tampa, Florida, Assistant Spa Director for Spa Internazionale at Fisher Island Club, Miami, Florida and Spa Manager for the Spa at Bally�s Park Place Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

Wayland-Smith brings over twelve years of experience in the hospitality and spa management industry with an emphasis on planning and development, daily operations, and sales and marketing.  She combines these areas with strong administrative and leadership skills as well as thorough knowledge in spa, salon, and fitness issues.

Originally hailing from Oneida, New York, Wayland-Smith spent ten years of her life in Mexico City, Mexico, at the American School Foundation.  She holds a B.S. in Education from the University of North Texas.

The $7 million, 17,000 square foot Spa at The Hotel Hershey is being created by world-renowned designer TAG Galyean of The TAG Studio, in a collaborative effort with Earl Swensson Associates (ESa), the architects of record and interior designers. A Fall 2000 opening is planned.
