Deanna J. McGonigal and Ken Ide Named 
General Managers at Pan Pacific Hotels
Singapore - March 1, 2000 - Ms. Deanna J. McGonigal has been appointed  General Manager at The Puteri Pan Pacific Johor Bahru, Malaysia and Mr. Ken Ide has been appointed General Manager, The Pan Pacific Hotel Yokohama, Japan, according to Mr. Ichigo Umehara, President of Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts.

Mr. Ken Ide, who served as Assistant General Manager of The Pan Pacific Hotel Yokohama from October 1998 has been promoted to General Manager of the same hotel effective 1 March 2000. 

Ken started his career with the Fujiya Hotel in Hakone right after graduating from the Tokyo YMCA International Hotel School, Tokyo, in March 1969. He moved to Canada in 1974 and has worked in various positions not only in hotels but also in the travel and restaurant industries for more than 10 years.
Ken joined The Pan Pacific Hotel Vancouver as Director of Sales in charge of Japanese account for the pre-opening office in 1985. In 1988, he was transferred to The Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka, Bangladesh as Resident Manager and was subsequently promoted to General Manager in March, 1989. After completing his assignment in Dhaka, Ken's next move was to The Pan Pacific Singapore as Resident Manager from September 1990 to September 1995. His next challenge was as General Manager of Hotel Sari Pan Pacific Jakarta, where he led the hotel through a very tumultuous period during political and civil unrest.

After 24 years overseas, he returned to Japan as Assistant General Manager -Operations at The Pan Pacific Hotel Yokohama. During the past one and half years, Ken has enhanced the Pan Pacific Way of doing business in the hotel through his past global experiences. He succeeds Mr. Nejat Sarp, the opening General Manager from August 1997 who leaves at the end of February 2000.

The Pan Pacific Hotel Yokohama has 485 rooms, 6 food & beverage outlets, a Grand Ballroom and 10 meeting rooms, indoor swimming pool, spa and esthetic salons and extensive wedding facilities. It is located in the heart of Queen's Square at Minato Mirai 21, an ambitious urban development project on prime waterfront land with views of the port city of Yokohama and the amusement park. This community comprises office towers, shopping facilities, a department store and concert hall.

Deanna joined the The Puteri Pan Pacific effective 1 February 2000. She will be responsible for overseeing the daily operation and profitability of the hotel. A Canadian citizen, Deanna is proficient in business, marketing and tourism management.

Deanna brings a wealth of experience in the hospitality, international business and cultural experience to the company. She spent the past one and a half years with Encore Food Innovation as Vice President of Operations. Prior to that, she worked with Marco Polo Hotels in Singapore with projects in Jakarta and Vietnam, and before that with New World Hotels International in Hong Kong. Deanna had affiliations with Commonwealth Holiday Inns in Canada as well as Hotel Georgia (formerly Westin) and Ernies Fine
Foods (division of General Foods) of Canada.
