Vancouver, B.C. February 13, 2000 -- Mr. Ichigo
Umehara, President, Pan Pacific Hotels & Resorts, is pleased to announce
the appointment of Mr. Stephen Halliday as General Manager of The Five
Diamond Pan Pacific Hotel Vancouver, Senior Vice President, Pan Pacific
Hotels & Resorts, America Inc. and Director, Pan Pacific Hotels &
Resorts Pte, Ltd. effective March 1, 2000.
As General Manager of the Vancouver hotel, Halliday replaces Susan Gomez, who resigned from the company in December to pursue other business interests in Mexico. Since 1995, Halliday has been General Manager of The Pan Pacific Singapore
and Director and Vice President of Pan Pacific Hotels & Resorts Pte.
Ltd. From 1989 to 1995, he held positions of Executive Vice President of
Operations and Marketing, Pan Pacific Hotels & Resorts Marketing out
of Costa Mesa, California before head office moved to Singapore.
Prior to that, Halliday orchestrated the opening of the flagship Pan Pacific
Hotel Vancouver from 1984 and remained there as General Manager until 1989.
Halliday is intent �to grow the Pan Pacific brand in key global markets
and is very proud to be able to return to North America to assist the company
in achieving their long time vision.� As for Vancouverites, Steve
Halliday is a returning legend, a local boy who �made good� starting as
a dishwasher, car hop at the Park Royal White Spot!
