Accor Opens 241 room Hotel Sofitel Zhengzhou 
in Henan Province Capital City
 
1 November 1999: Accor has opened its newest hotel in China � the 5-star Hotel Sofitel Zhengzhou � in the heart of the bustling Henan Province capital city. The soft-opening of the hotel�s rooms follows the Sofitel�s first function, held a month earlier, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the People�s Republic of China. 

Zhengzhou is growing rapidly as a commercial centre, and Accor has considerable experience of the destination, having operated the Novotel International Zhengzhou since 1995.

The opening of Sofitel Zhengzhou is part of a rapid expansion by Accor in China. Building on the company�s strong base in Shanghai, Accor has recently concentrated on developing its network in key regional centres such as Hangzhou and Hefei. In the next year, Accor will add further Sofitel and Novotel hotels in Jinan, Shanghai and Wuhan.

Hotel Sofitel Zhengzhou will be the city�s leading deluxe hotel. Located in the heart of the central business district, is ideally located for international and domestic travellers. For leisure travellers, the hotel is only three minutes walk to the Zi Jin Shan Park and staff can arrange tours to the historic Shaolin Temples, the remains of the ancient city of Shang and the Yellow River. 

The 241 rooms includes 72 suites, ideal for long-stay travellers or corporates requiring space to establish a travelling office. A Sofitel Club Floor with dedicated lounge and business facilities highlights the Sofitel�s commitment to business travellers. In addition, a Grand Ballroom and a wide variety of meeting rooms � supported by a business centre � equip the Sofitel for hosting conferences and functions for up to 400 delegates. A private group check-in and airport shuttle service is also available. 

All rooms come equipped with satellite television, IDD telephone and in-room safe deposit box.

The hotel is well equipped for leisure with a swimming pool, massage and sauna, billiards and games room, health club and a bowling alley. 

The Sofitel is expected to become one of the city�s prime restaurant, function and entertainment venues, offering a wide variety of cuisine styles, supported by entertainment. Canton Garden provides Cantonese and Hong Kong dim sum cuisines with private dining rooms, the Dome 
2/ Sofitel Zhengzhou

Brasserie makes spectacular use of the atrium dome, providing alfresco style atmosphere while indoors. The menu consists of Asian fusion dishes and international choices, with Sunday brunch a specialty. The Chairman�s Bar offers snack style food, international satellite television and a wide variety of cocktails and other drinks.

The Sofitel will make a significant addition to the tourism infrastructure of Zhengzhou, especially as the city is attracting an increasing number of international corporate travellers.
