BEIJING, May 2012 – Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts is pleased to announce the appointment of Jan Chovanec, as General Manager of Swissôtel Beijing Hong Kong Macau Center with immediate effect. Mr. Chovanec brings with him over 39 years of hospitality experience internationally and first joined Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts in 1998.

Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Chovanec was General Manager at Swissôtel Krasnye Holmy Moscow since 2007. In the last 5 years, he has led his team to win various international awards including Russia’s Leading Business Hotel for consecutive years since 2007, Europe's Leading City Hotel and World's Leading Meetings Hotel in 2011. With a career that has taken him to different cities in Europe and United States, Mr. Chovanec brings with him extensive experience in the role of General Manager. An American/The Slovak Republic hotelier, he first joined Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts in 1998 assuming the role of General Manager of Swissôtel Chicago, followed by Swissôtel Watergate, Washington D.C and Swissôtel The Bosphorus Istanbul. Other international brands he has worked with include The Ritz Carlton in Boston and Washington DC.

As General Manager of Swissôtel Beijing, Mr. Chovanec will be responsible for overseeing the smooth and efficient operations of the property, planning and direction of the hotel. With his extensive experience in various competencies within the hotel, Mr. Chovanec will be well placed to bring the hotel to greater heights..
