Karsten Hart Named Chef de Cuisine at the Castle Hill Inn
in Newport, Rhode Island



Newport, RI – May 11, 2011
– Castle Hill Inn, a Relais & Chateaux property located at 590 Ocean Drive in Newport, RI, is pleased to announce that acclaimed chef, Karsten Hart, has joined the property as Chef de Cuisine, where he will assist Executive Chef Jonathan Cambra in all aspects of Castle Hill’s culinary team. Prior to joining Castle Hill, Chef Hart was Executive Chef at The Estate by the Elderberries in Oakhurst, CA, a Relais & Chateaux property, where he was a Grand Chef. Chef Hart was one of only 20 U.S. chefs with the ‘Grand Chef’ designation including Daniel Boulud and Thomas Keller. There, he was responsible for all kitchen operations and the planning and development of a daily five-course menu, as well as teaching three-day cooking classes.

Prior to that, Chef Hart was a Sous Chef at the Windsor Court Hotel in New Orleans, LA, a five star, five diamond property, where he was responsible for expediting breakfast, lunch, and dinner shifts for the hotel’s award-winning restaurant.

A graduate of Louisiana State University and the California Culinary Academy, Chef Hart currently resides in Newport with his wife, Deja.
