Choice Hotels International Opens 73 New Hotels in December


Silver Spring, Md. (January 20, 2011) – Choice Hotels International, Inc. (NYSE: CHH) continues to grow with the announcement of 73 newly-opened franchised properties during the month of December. The openings include hotels in 35 states and four additional countries, adding close to 7,000 rooms to the company’s existing 490,000-plus rooms. Select properties that opened in December include:
 
Cambria Suites Pittsburgh at CONSOL Energy Center – Pittsburgh, Penn.
Adjacent to the CONSOL Energy Center in downtown Pittsburgh, each suite at the Cambria Suites hotel offers separate work and living areas with ergonomic chairs, movable desks, luxury linens, and Bath & Body Works® products. In addition, the property features an 1,800 square foot, three bedroom and three-and-a-half bathroom presidential suite with one of a kind skyline views of downtown Pittsburgh – a first for the brand.  A seventh floor concierge lounge offers a wet bar, flat screen LCD televisions and lounge space for guests to use and enjoy. The hotel also has an exclusive guest dedicated garage with access to the CONSOL Energy Center for event patrons staying at the property.
 
Sleep Inn & Suites Downtown Inner Harbor – Baltimore, Md.
One of the first among the Sleep Inn brand to feature an entirely new refreshed modern look and feel, this Sleep Inn hotel, located in downtown Baltimore just steps from the Inner Harbor, offers free Wi-Fi, free deluxe continental breakfast, meeting facilities, business center and exercise room. Guestrooms feature flat screen/Plasma TVs with select rooms also featuring in-bath whirlpools, wet bars, microwaves, refrigerators.
 
Comfort Suites Downtown Convention Center – Atlanta, Ga.
Marking the first-ever Choice Hotels brand property for downtown Atlanta and the first-ever adaptive reuse Comfort Suites hotel, this downtown hotel features suites larger than the industry standard, with separate bedroom and living areas. Each of its elegantly appointed rooms have a marble-topped wet bar, sleeper sofa, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen LCD television, desk and pillow-top mattress with crisp white duvet and amber bed scarf. The 156-room hotel is housed in a historic building and has undergone a multi-million-dollar renovation. Its lower five floors were originally built more than a century ago, and 11 additional floors were later added for the 1996 Summer Olympics.

MainStay Suites East Edmonton/Sherwood Park – Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada
Marking the first extended stay brand hotel in Canada for Choice Hotels, this MainStay Suites hotel features a business center, free high-speed wired and wireless Internet access, daily continental breakfast, fitness center and complimentary guest parking. Guestrooms feature a fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops, hardwood flooring, 37-inch flat screen televisions, large work areas with bright task lighting, sofa beds, irons and ironing boards.
