Sept. 12, 2008 - The only locally owned and operated casino-hotel in Detroit
will debut its complete entertainment destination tonight, celebrating
the end of a $300 million, three year expansion and renovation of the site.
The project includes the expansion and renovation of the casino's gaming
floor, the building of a 400-room hotel, spa and fine dining restaurant,
and the addition of a 1,886 seat live entertainment theater, expansive
meeting space, retail areas and several food outlets.
MotorCity Casino, originally opened in December 1999, was built to incorporate
the former Wonder Bread Bakery. As part of the expansion and renovation
project, a corner of the historic Wagner Baking Company building was reconstructed
to preserve an iconic piece of Detroit history.

Tonight's party theme, "Detroit Rock City" celebrates the city and the
region's musical heritage, and will pay tribute to several music genres
through a variety of entertainment acts, decor, activities and refreshments.
In addition to its 100,000 sq. ft. gaming floor, offering 3,000 slot
machines, more than 60 table games and a non-smoking poker room, MotorCity
