and Summit Accommodations, LLC Sign Franchise Agreements with Marriott ExecuStay |
Washington, D.C. – Sept. 11, 2003 – Marriott
ExecuStay, the corporate housing division of Marriott International, Inc.
(NYSE:MAR), today announced continued expansion of its franchise system
with the signing of three new franchise agreements for the Atlanta, Boston/Metro-West
and the greater Phoenix areas. The new franchise agreements, which
bring the number of ExecuStay’s total franchised markets to nine, are with
existing franchisee Mainsail Management Group, Inc. for Atlanta, and with
new franchisees Princeton Properties, Inc. for Boston/Metro-West and Summit
Accommodations, LLC for Phoenix.
Joe Lavin, executive vice president and managing director for Marriott ExecuStay, said, “ExecuStay’s ability to attract quality operators like Mainsail, Princeton Properties and Summit reinforces that corporate housing providers aligning with an international hospitality system is an idea whose time has come. ExecuStay is well on the way to achieving our goal of unifying the industry’s best operators under the Marriott umbrella of consistency and excellence.” Added Greg Laubach, Marriott ExecuStay’s senior vice president of business
development, “Franchising with Marriott ExecuStay leverages the acumen
and local market relationships of our franchisees with the power of the
Marriott brand, our Marriott Rewards® guest loyalty program and our
effective customer distribution channels. By working in tandem, we
are building more value together.”
“We are thrilled to be joining Marriott ExecuStay, said Flahive. “With Princeton’s strong New England base and Marriott’s global network, this is an exciting opportunity for both of us.” Summit Accommodations has operated a successful corporate housing business in Phoenix since 1999, and prior to that operated in Austin and San Antonio. Through their new Marriott ExecuStay agreement, John and Deanna Reyes, principals of Summit, now operate ExecuStay’s corporate housing program in the Phoenix metropolitan area. “Summit began providing corporate housing 15 years ago, as the concept was gaining in popularity and recognition, and we feel it’s significant that an international company like Marriott is on the cutting edge of franchising in this segment,” said Deanna Reyes. “Being part of Marriott is a double win – for us and for the travelers we serve.” Mainsail, currently operating Marriott ExecuStay franchises in Tampa, Fla., and Greenville, S.C., will assume ExecuStay’s Atlanta business operations. Joe Collier, president of Mainsail, said, “Our expansion into the Atlanta market is consistent with our plans to grow our Marriott ExecuStay business throughout the Southeast.” Marriott ExecuStay, with approximately 5,000 apartments in the U.S., is part of Marriott International’s extended-stay lodging portfolio, which also includes Residence Inn, TownePlace Suites and Marriott Executive Apartments.
