Higher Employee Productivity
Advice from Aspire Marketing
by Carl J. Erikson,  CHA, CRDE, Director of Possibilities, Aspire Marketing & Training June 2003

Most managers and supervisors know their leadership actions can have a dramatic effect on the performance of employees, the team around them, and the hotels overall success.

Making it happen is the challenge! Many steps can be taken to set the stage for successful collaboration between all levels of employees working at your hotel. Some ideas on how to develop a collaborative culture follow:

Communicate, Communicate, Communicate

Support open, honest, and frequent dialog among your employees and encourage
them to share ideas or concerns. Talking counts!

If effective communication was easy everyone would do it.

Model Collaboration

Because youre in a leadership role, people watch what you say and especially  what you do.
                                        Walk it then talk it.

Know the People You Work With

Talk with them about their needs and priorities. Listen to what they are saying and
how they feel.

Theyll care if they know you care.

Praise Collaborative Performance

Recognize your team for work they did collaboratively. Make a point to show your
appreciation. Support individual as well as team efforts.
Look for the right not the wrong.

In the end if you work collaboratively with your employees, they will deliver better,  smarter and faster results. Now is the time to take your team to the next level.
