Joe Henry, Long time Executive with Opryland Hotel
in Nashville, Appointed Director of Operations
at Callaway Gardens Resort

-
PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (1/28/02) - Joe Henry, longtime manager of Nashvilles Opryland Hotel, has joined Callaway Gardens Resort as the new director of operations.

Henry spent nearly a quarter of a century establishing the Opryland Hotel as one of the nations premier hotel and meeting destinations.  Now Henry is bringing his expertise of managing one-of-a kind resorts to Callaway.

As director of operations, Henry will oversee many of the day-to-day functions of the 2,500-acre resort. He will report directly to Callaway Gardens president, George P. Fischer.

Henry will manage the departments of food and beverage, transportation, front office, housekeeping and real estate for Callaway, including all operations for the 54,000-square-foot executive-level conference center - The Southern Pine - opening Sept. 2002.

"Joe brings a wealth of experience to our management team that will help us run Callaway at a very high level of service," said Fischer.  "He understands guests' expectations when they visit a first-class resort.  His background will be exceedingly helpful in the development and growth of Callaway, especially with the addition of The Southern Pine."

Henry welcomes the new challenge. Callaway has so much to offer, he said.  I am excited to get a chance to help develop this great resort and meeting destination.  People have been visiting here for 50 years.  Its our challenge now to build on that heritage and to keep people coming back year after year.

Henrys experience in the hospitality industry spans more than 30 years. Previously, Henry was senior vice president of integrated planning for Opryland Hospitality Group in Nashville, and he has more than 24 years of management experience with the Opryland Hotel.  He served as manager of the Opryland Hotel in Nashville from 1977 to 1995.

Callaway, one of the souths top destinations, offers a full slate of accommodations, dining and recreational choices. Callaway Gardens is an hours drive southwest of Atlanta and 30 minutes north of Columbus.
